CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR RECENT GRANTEES

Congratulations to 2022 grantees:

LGBT Center of SE - 2022 Visioning the Future Project
The LGBT Center of SE Wisconsin was awarded partial funding to help with their Visioning the Future Project. The Center was founded in 2009, but never had a comprehensive and professionally executed community survey that asks what their clients, volunteers and community members want/need in terms of support, services and programming. In order to plan for the future they need this data to help make informed decisions about their planning, to set a baseline for current data, to mobilize the community to support projects and to validate future funding requests for new funders such as the State of Wisconsin and the City of Racine.

OutReach - Willma's Fund
OutReach was awarded funding to help with Willma’s Fund which is a program of OutReach that was created 11 years ago to provide emergency grants to homeless LGBTQ+ people in Dane County. Grants include rent payments, security deposits, utility and phone bills, transportation, food and clothing and other basic needs. This grant will allow OutReach to provide grants to roughly 100-150 LGBTQ homeless people in the next 12 months.Grants allow homeless LGBTQ people in Dane County to pay a security deposit to get into an apartment, pay back rent to avoid getting evicted, pay utility bills to avoid having services disconnected, pay transportation costs to allow clients to go to work, shop, get health care and other essential functions.

Pride and Less Prejudice - Read Out Proud Wisconsin
Pride and Less Prejudice works to promote positive LGBTQ representation by providing LGBTQ-inclusive books to pre-K through 3rd-grade classrooms. Such representation not only normalizes LGBTQ identities in classrooms, but it also fosters the support of LGBTQ and questioning youth themselves, making them feel more at home in educational spaces. They were awarded funding for their project Read Out Proud Wisconsin which will serve pre-K through 3rd grade teachers across Wisconsin by enabling them to send 240 LGBTQ-inclusive books to 120 teachers across the state.
