2012 Dinner/Comedy Fundraiser

The NewHarvest Foundation’s 2012 Dinner/Comedy Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, March 3rd at the Edgewater Hotel. This is one of our greatest opportunities to raise monies to fund grants to organizations that work to promote LGBT rights, services, culture, and community development. It is also one of our greatest opportunities to raise awareness for the Foundation and our current funding priorities:  LGBT Youth and Seniors. This is your event.  This is your community! Your attendance at our annual Dinner Event speaks to your commitment to us as an important part of our community.  We hope to see you there.

We will start the festivities with a cocktail hour and silent auction from 5:30 to 7:00 pm with piano music by our good friend and supporter, Terry Watters. The dinner and program will follow, including a yet to be determined political speaker, representation from our grant recipients, and comedy by Karen Williams who graced our event 3 years ago.

You can see a list of some of the items which will be available at the silent auction here: Silent Auction Items.

The cost to attend this event is $75.00 per individual or $550 for a table of 8 (50% of the cost is tax deductible). Tickets can be purchased online.  If you are on our mailing list, you also can reserve your seat at the event by returning your RSVP invitation via the mail.

Become a Sponsor, Advertiser, or Donor

Event sponsorship is an excellent way to support this event and the LGBT communities of South Central Wisconsin.  We also would be pleased to advertise your business in our event program and accept your donation of items for the silent auction.  Details about these opportunities can be found here.  Please contact Tret Fure at 608-469-4007 or tretfure@gmail.com to discuss your interest in becoming a sponsor, advertiser, or donor.  Thank you!

The 2011 Dinner Dance “Masquerade” – Lively and Successful

This year’s dinner dance was relocated to the Edgewater Hotel and the theme – “Come to the Masquerade” – was well received. Dinner was great, the dance band was fantastic and everyone had a mask to fit the theme. While the crowd wasn’t huge, it was enthusiastic and quite a flurry of bidding and socializing occurred during the silent auction that occurred prior to dinner and the program.  Once again, the crowd was entertained by the musical talent of Terry Watters during the cocktail hour and silent auction portion of the evening!

One of the features of this year’s dinner was the premier of the new NHF video “What We Do”, produced by Kem Kemmerer and edited by Victoria Vlisides. Interviews of past grant recipients were conducted and filmed, and their compelling stories regarding the impact of funding from New Harvest were told. If you were unable to attend this year’s dinner dance, click here to view the video.

Both Mark Pocan and Tammy Baldwin attended this year’s event and addressed the audience; both politicians provided a timely view of current LGBT issues on the local and national scenes. During cocktails and dinner, guests were treated to Terry Watters’ lively piano renditions and after dinner, Lynette Margulies and Five Chairs No Waiting had the Edgewater dining room rocking!

There are so many people whose help as volunteers and vendors made the evening both successful and fun. Table center pieces came from Rose Cottage; Allie Matthies and Aiden Caes contributed much valued and appreciated time and support, despite busy schedules at the UW. The whole board pitched in to help with decorations and the staff at the Edgewater were most helpful. We were fortunate to have the financial support of many businesses and individuals who either purchased advertising in the dinner dance program and/or contributed items to the silent auction  Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this year’s dinner dance the success it was!
